Tonight my wife and I had an evening meal at The Three Tuns in the market place Henley-on-Thames. This was our first visit to the establishment, having read favourable reports in the local newspaper. The food was excellent - so good that we were only able to have two courses and had to forfeit a pudding because we were very satisfied.
The restaurant was very clean and the tables well presented - the staff were very helpful in offering a description of 'Specials' and very courteous and efficient. The selection of wine was very comprehensive and our choice of Merlot was excellent. Having lived in Henley for 50 years, we have very seldom eaten in public houses but we will certainly return to The Three Tuns - considering that the food is some of the best available - very comparable to the standard of the more expensive establishments in the town.
In summary, a very worthwhile experience which was most enjoyable and will be repeated. Well done - you deserve all praise.

“New owners have turned this place around”
Since the new landlords took over this place has gone from strength to strength. The building has plenty of old world charm with a cosy bar, low ceiling, fireplace and comfy seats. The menu is very reasonably priced, you can easily have a good meal for two for under £50 all in. The food is always excellent, and varies from the simple (pie and chips) to the more extravagant (pigeon breast). The difference is in the thought and care that goes into everything. All the chips are hand cut, the sauces are all homemade, all the meat comes straight from the excellent butcher next door. Even though this is pub dining, I think it's somewhere I would travel too for the superb value for money and great atmosphere.

Fantastic family friendly pub with amazing food, atmosphere and service. Cannot recommend highly enough. My only dissapointment is that it is not on my doorstep - we live in Suffolk. However it would be dangerous if it were - we'd never be out of the place!!

“Food was very nice - and the service excellent”
We were looking for lunch out on 27th December, and depsite the recession, Henley was heaving! With 3 young children and 4 adults it took us several tries to find somewhere that could seat us straight away, but the Three Tuns managed it. Inside it is a very small 'pub' with rooms stretching towards the back. They had a good offer on 2- or 3- courses, and the food we ordered was very tasty. The people serving us were very charming, and we were made to feel very welcome (despite the little ones!). No specific children's menu, but we ordered an adult meal and divided it up, which was fine. The toilets even had proper towels (little facecloths really) rather than paper or air dryers, which was a very nice touch! Overall, we enjoyed our meal, and were very happy with our chance choice!

Market day in Henley, spoilt for choice for lunch..found a gem, warm welcome from Sandra and staff was a good sign, excellent service and food made it a winning combination.
This was our first visit but will not be our last.
